Rochelle Beligon has been recognised as the Global Filipino Architect of the Year (UAP) 2019 by the United Architects of the Philippines Dubai Chapter.
The UAP Awards aim to increase awareness of outstanding design and to recognise excellence in architecture, interior design, urban design, and unbuilt projects.
Up against some of the industry’s best talent, the judges singled out Rochelle as someone highly deserving of the award commenting that her submitted portfolio of work was truly outstanding. Rochelle was naturally thrilled with the recognition but attributes this to her passion for her work.
“I am truly thrilled to receive this award and I am grateful for the support and opportunities that I have been fortunate to have had as part of the GAJ interior design team,” said Rochelle. “I work in an exciting environment where designers are encouraged to contribute to the design process regardless of where they are in their career. This approach has helped shape my career and given me the platform from which to grow and develop my own style.”
Rochelle has more than 18 years of experience as both an Architectural Designer and as an Interior Designer. Throughout her career she has handled a number of key projects, most notably the design of interiors for residences, offices, retail, showrooms, restaurants, healthcare and hospitality establishments and specifically the Mysk Al Mouj in Oman, Jewel of the Creek and the Bab Al Yam Renovation at Burj Al Arab.
“No one deserves this award more than Rochelle. She is a talented and capable designer who has shown time and time again what an asset she is to the GAJ ID team. She is a hard worker who will do what it takes to meet deadlines and make the project a success and we couldn’t be more proud of her,” said Jacinda Raniolo, lead creative designer.
