Brian Johnson, Managing Partner at Godwin Austen Johnson has spent over 40 years in the Middle East contributing to its landscape and the preservation of its rich heritage and culture. He is widely known for his design of the iconic Dubai Creek Golf Club and the award winning desert resort Bab Al Shams, but his contribution to supporting the development of the education sector in the Middle east has been an ongoing journey – His first school being JESS (Jumeirah English Speaking School).
This month JESS marked its 40 year anniversary with a host of celebrations and events. The event was attended by Brian Johnson, who not only related to the school’s journey as the Architect of the School, but also as the parent of a former JESS Student.
The exhibition was very reminiscent of a 10 year anniversary booklet Brian received back in 1986 where they reflected on the changes and the transformation of the school during that decade (see attached excerpts showing a pictoral journey of the schools transformation).
GAJ has designed more than 30 schools across the region from nursery to tertiary education including; Dubai College, Cranleigh School, Arcadia Preparatory School, Ladybird Nursery, GEMS international, Bradenton Academy, and the American University Sharjah to name a few.
