This was a phased redevelopment proposal for the existing Crowne Plaza Hotel. Located on the north-eastern tip of Bahrain’s main island, the site is in the heart of the Diplomatic and Financial district of Bahrain’s capital city, Al Manamah.

The current 246 key hotel consists of a series of low-rise triangular-shaped courtyard buildings. The aim of the re-development was to target the following objectives:

– To take advantage of the prime location
– To improve the hotel’s brand recognition
– To improve the quality of offer and guest satisfaction
– To establish a long-term phased masterplan

The proposed re-development consisted of the following:

• 300-350 keys hotel in the first phase
• 126 – 300 keys hotel/service apartments in the second phase
• Fitness club (including a 25m lap pool)
• Luxury spa
• Dining outlets with fantastic views
• Podium deck with recreation and leisure activities
• Business centre
• Generous drop-off area/reception/lobby lounge
• Refurbishment to the existing Conference Centre
